Ashton's and Neuman's Flashes
As part of the Northwich Woodlands, the Flashes were the most recent area of land to be reclaimed. Within easy reach from Northwich town centre, the site is excellent for shorter walks or inclusion in wider circular walks of the area.
Its industrial history has left a legacy of unique site conditions that allow many unusual species to thrive; the presence of salt has allowed seaside plants to establish, whilst the area’s recent industrial use as lime beds allow other species such as the rare Dingy Skipper butterfly to survive. A variety of bird species including wader and waterfowl add further interest, making this area an important location for all nature lovers. Visitors can view the wildlife from any of the hides on site.
Ashton’s and Neumann’s Flashes are located off Marbury Road, Comberbach, Northwich, CW9 6AT

Ashton’s and Neumann’s Flashes are part of a group of nine sites which make up the Northwich Woodlands. Created from what was once largely derelict land, the Woodlands now provides a rich and green environment to the north of Northwich town centre. Each of the nine countryside sites that make up the Northwich Woodlands has its own unique character and history. The Weaver Navigation and the Trent and Mersey canal flow through the heart of the Woodlands adding further variety to the landscape. Its network of surfaced paths provides many routes accessible to all and appeals to a variety of users including horse riders, cyclists, nature lovers and families.
