17 January 2012

Cheshire West and Chester Council, as part of ongoing maintenance of its cemeteries, is advising grave owners and visitors that all remaining Christmas wreaths will be removed and disposed of from graves starting on Monday, 20 February 2012. This involves:

  • Chester Crematorium
  • Blacon Cemetery, Chester
  • Overleigh Cemetery, Chester
  • Overpool Cemetery, Ellesmere Port
  • Neston Cemetery, Neston
  • Wharton Cemetery, Winsford

Wreaths will be removed from the Garden of Remembrance Areas week commencing 30 January at:

  • Chester Crematorium
  • Overpool Cemetery, Ellesmere Port
  • Neston Cemetery, Neston

Please note the Council does not remove wreaths from closed churchyards.

Grave owners and visitors who would like to keep their wreaths are advised to retrieve them before both dates.

Notices have been placed in all Council –run cemeteries to let people know that this will happen and to give grave owners and visitors plenty of time to collect their wreaths if they wish.

If anyone has any query about the removal of wreaths they should contact the cemeteries and crematorium service on 01244 977381.
