Community Safety Wardens and students promote special event
20 April 2010
Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Community Safety Wardens joined up with the University of Chester’s Student Union Bar to promote responsible drinking and student safety.
Students were invited to take part in a 999 emergency themed night to highlight the importance of responsible drinking, getting home safely and the dangers of leaving drinks unattended.
Throughout the evening, safety goodie bags containing personal attack alarms, Spikeys - anti-spiking drinks devices to be put on the top of bottles, unit calculators for alcohol, water and flip flops, were handed out and information given about the health effects of drinking alcohol.
The Student Union promoted the theme by placing Spikeys on each bottle sold at the bar.
Community Safety Warden Katrina Molloy, the University Liaison Officer, said: “The special night was a huge success and the information and goodie bags were well received by the students.
“All in all this was another successful event as part of the Community Safety Wardens’ ongoing student safety campaign.”
