Nominations needed for new awards ceremony covering Neston's CH64 postcode
20 April 2010
A special event is being planned to recognise outstanding members of the community in the CH64 post code around Neston.
The Celebrating Youth and Community Achievement Awards are centred on Neston, Parkgate, Burton, Ness, Little Ness, Riverside and Willaston.
Winners will receive their awards at an event staged at Neston High School on Wednesday, 30 June at 7pm.
The evening is hosted by Cheshire West and Chester Council and partners including Cheshire Police and Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service.
Steve Kent, Director for Community and Environment Services, said: "This is the first time that such an awards ceremony has taken place in the area and I am sure it will be the first of many.
"The awards evening gives us the opportunity to thank members of the community who are already making a positive contribution and celebrate their achievements.
"Cheshire West and Chester Council aims to support community improvement by working in partnership targeting work and cleaner, greener, safer activities."
Gavin Butler, Head of Community Safety, added: "The partnership is looking for outstanding members of the community to be recognised in a variety of categories under the Safer, Stronger Event banner.
"They include awards for positive contributions to the community, for sporting achievements and contributions towards improving the environment.
"So please put forward the names of deserving members of your community."
An event will run across CH64 starting the last week in April involving a number of organisations working together to increase community spirit and make positive environmental changes. The event will end at the awards evening which will recognise on-going contributions from members of the community.
