Tea Dance is a toe-tapping success

27 October 2010

A free Tea Dance held at Chester Town Hall has proved to be a toe-tapping success.

Councillor Pat Lott invited older people across Cheshire West to take a twirl on the dance floor as part of the celebrations for Older People’s Day, which was officially held earlier this month.

A queue formed well before the 2pm start and extra chairs and tables had to be brought into the room to accommodate everyone.

Councillor Lott, the authority's Older Person's Champion, organised the event as one of her first tasks in the role.

Councillor Lott, said: "It was a pleasure organising this event. It was a wonderful afternoon and I was delighted to see so many people come along and enjoy themselves. I would really like to thank everyone involved in making the afternoon such a great success.

“What better way to celebrate this year's theme for Older People's Day becoming and staying active in later life."

Proceeds from sales of tea, coffee and cake, as well as well as a raffle, went to the Older People’s Network.
