Deadline extended to find out more about Ambassadors idea for Ellesmere Port
10 September 2010
The deadline for Ellesmere Port residents to express their interest in becoming Ambassadors for the town has been extended.
Mayor, Councillor Gareth Anderson, and Susan Salter, President-elect of the Ellesmere Port Soroptimists, are asking people to come along to a public meeting to find out more about the proposal on Thursday, 23 September. The venue has yet to be decided.
"Both Susan and myself believe that residents acting as Ambassadors could play an important role in promoting the town and spreading the word about Ellesmere Port", said Mayor Councillor Anderson.
"We have extended the original deadline for the meeting to allow more people to come forward. Everyone is invited as well as representatives from the business community and voluntary sector."
Susan Salter said: "Soroptimist International is the world's largest female organisation and we are proud to have had a club in Ellesmere Port since 1943.
"A lot of our members have played a significant role in the local community and have also been associated with numerous service projects over the years.
"We think there is much to celebrate about Ellesmere Port and look forward to working with Councillor Anderson in his year of office."
The meeting will take place in the town centre. If you wish to attend please contact the Council's Civic Officer, Lesley Falshaw, on tel: 01244 402219.
